Okay, well the object of the primer is to take the fuel from the tank and fill up your injector pump. You need to get fuel back up to your injectors and bleed the air out. There's a couple of ways you can do this. After you verify fuel is getting to your injector pump by breaking the fuel fitting going into your pump. You need to loosen the nuts on your fuel lines at your 3 injectors. Then you can either keep turning your engine over with your starter until you see fuel coming out of your lines at the injectors or you can get someone to pull you in high gear until you see fuel. Then just tighten your fittings back up on the injectors and she should crank. ....

For one thing never try and restart, usually just enough fuel to left in the lines to restart after refueling. Disconnect the fuel lines to the head, if it has a compression release then release it, when fuel starts coming out of the lines screw them back in, sometimes takes a few times, but the compression release will save your battery and starter, but has to be engaged to start and run again or closed. I hope this helps, you can also look on YT for helpful video's. Good luck ....

Tractor hack of the week.
When a tractor runs out of fuel it's very rarely completely dry, just down to the point where there isn't enough to support combustion.
Fill the tank with fuel, leave it stand a few hours (if possible, overnight is better) then use WD-40 as a 'quick start' and with the handle throttle set to about 1/3 setting try to keep is running on the WD-40 with judicious spurts until it catches and rev's up. Leave it at a high idle for a few minutes to be sure all the bubbles have blown through.
Been doing this for nearly 40 years now, never failed me yet.
Best of luck.

Now that's a great trick Murf. I will definitely keep that in mind if i ever run out of diesel. I assume you're squirting the WD40 in the air intake while turning it over, correct? ....

Murf's trick does work well. Yes you spray into the air intake. This is one OLE trick I learned before I learned the wise Murf. My brother thought I was crazy when his Allis Chambers would not crank and I asked for his WD 40, helps with cold temps and will also work with small gas engines. ....

Back in the 90's WD40 got a bad reputation as the propellant was propane butane and they had few law suits with exploded cans and burn victims. Then they changed to Carbon Dioxide propellant and had some high pressure deformation issues with exploded cans in the early 2000's.
They still have a secret formula, they make the concentrate and send it out to be canned by others. They are like Pepsi and Coke sending out the syrup to the independent bottlers :-)
I have used it for all sorts of stuff it is a very handy SOLVENT and is not a lubricant at all but a cleaner. But be cautious where you spray it.

Per the WD 40 company Safety Data Sheet:
DANGER!
H222 Extremely Flammable Aerosol.
P210 Keep away from heat, sparks, open flames, hot surfaces – No smoking.
P211 Do not spray on an open flame or other ignition source.
P251 Pressurized container: Do not pierce or burn, even after use.
P410+P412 Protect from sunlight. Do not expose to temperatures exceeding 50°C/122°F.
Conditions to Avoid: Avoid heat, sparks, flames and other sources of ignition. Do not puncture or incinerate
containers
Example do not spray on a running electric fan, running drill , anything that could cause ignition.
That said there are videos on yourtube showing how to inflate a tubeless tire by spraying WD 40 around the bead and igniting it so it intentionally explodes and pops rim. Tire dealer for my installs :-)
Not supposed to be good for guns, soft plastics, soft rubber.
WD-40 now has a line of products under the WD 40 label now in addition to the Original WD 40 (Water Dispersant 40) , Teflon Dry lube, Gel lube and Silicone lube. Dont know what safety concerns they have if any.

Lots of good videos on Youtube, but I'm with you on letting the tire pro's do their thing. I have always heard that the main ingredient in WD40 was some form of whale/fish oil. Thanks for the safety reminders.
I hope the original poster got her tractor going. ....

Yup, WD-40 is great for all kinds of stuff, waaaaaay down the list is penetrating oil.
As for the contents, check out the link below.
BTW, I recall reading in one of my engineering association journals that a university engineering dept (Nebraska IIRC) had studied penetrating oils. They compared every major brand plus a few 'old secret recipes'.
The hands down winner was ..... drum roll ...... a 50 / 50 blend of acetone and ATF. ....

I think you have WD-40 confused with another product, there is nothing in WD-40
(see MSDS sheet above) that would affect an O-ring.
Best of luck. ....

Wikipedia list WD 40 ingredients as mostly kerosene. In the spec sheet I linked before I did know that low vapor pressure aliphatic hydrocarbon was Kerosene.
45-50 % low vapor pressure aliphatic hydrocarbon (kerosene)
<35% petroleum base oil (non hazardous heavy paraffins)
<25% aliphatic hydrocarbons (same CAS number as the first item, but flammable)
2-3% carbon dioxide (propellant)
....
